The proprietor, Ron Smith, has 25 years experience growing award winning grapes in the region. After planting 200,000 vines, and in response to high demand for these grapes, the Moana Park range of wines was launched four years ago. These exhibit the fruit characters of their parent vines along with the complexities relating to the terroir of the Dartmoor Valley where they are grown.

The Moana Park winery is in the fortunate position whereby it can draw on significant volumes of quality fruit from its established vineyards. It currently utilises around 20% of its available fruit, and this is anticipated to increase in future vintages. The balance of fruit continues to be supplied to other eagerly awaiting New Zealand wineries as it has been for over 20 years (these include Matua Valley, Mills Reef, Mission Estate and Sacred Hill).
