It had been a long time ambition for Denis Gunn to make wine under his own label. A combination of passion and sheer determination meant that this dream became reality in 1994 when he and brother Alan formed Gunn Estate.

The wines were made from grapes grown in vineyards based on the old family property. These vineyards were well established, some 15 years of age, and had proven their ability to produce quality, albeit under the labels of other leading New Zealand wines.

Since the first wines were made, Gunn Estate has made steady progress establishing itself in the domestic market in several sectors, namely retail, restaurant and mail order sales. Gunn Estate has also moved into international markets with export sales into the key markets of the UK, United States and Singapore.
